My Body is a Prayer

My body is a prayer
One that physically adores
From the mouth that calls petitions
To the thanksgiving inside my bones

Beating heart that spreads your praises
In the blood that fills my veins
And the feet that take me places
Where my voice can speak your name

And the air that helps sustain me
Are the verses to my lungs
Where the flesh and muscle blends
To hold the hands of old and young

And in their eyes is where I see You
That which makes my spirit burn
And in my eyes I hope they see too
Your love given in return
